- The HawaiianIslands.com Local Expert Team

Since 1981, Kumu Farms has served as the go-to place in Molokai for freshly grown produce and so much more. Home to both organic and conventional offerings, this farm never fails to delight with its wide array of tropical produce. Their Maui Gold Pineapples and Sunrise Papayas are the stars of the show, of course, but that’s just the start of their selections. They even have delightful Hawaiian-made goods, ranging from edible creations to beauty supplies.

Although they do sell their most popular goods online, a trip to their farm is in order if you want the full shopping experience. You’ll find their country store by taking the Mauna Loa Highway into the heart of Kaunakakai. Their well-kept croplands line the highway, leading you down Huaai Road to their parking lot. A small sign marks the entrance, so don’t blink or you might miss it. Once you get onto their land, find a spot out of the way of their farm vehicles and get ready for a visit to remember.

Over 40 years ago, their farm started with just a few key herbs and peppers cherished by local restaurants and homemakers alike. But they’ve grown by leaps and bounds since then, expanding their farm to take full advantage of their beautiful climate. On their land, they currently grow GMO-free Sunrise Papaya, bananas, cucumbers, zucchini, sweet potatoes, limes, lemons, passion fruit, and pineapple, just to name a few things.

You can come by the farm store to pick up your fill, but you can also find their products in use at local restaurants.  Local artisans often use their produce as ingredients in their own creations as well, and then proudly put them up for sale in the farm store. Wondering just what products take advantage of the fresh farm goods? Just ask their team for recommendations. They even have their own line of tasty treats ready for your pure enjoyment.
