At El Taco Feliz, they go all out in creating truly memorable tacos, burritos, and all your other Mexican favorites. Although they serve their delicious creations out of a food truck, they’re always easy to track down. They post up at the same spot each day, located right along the Kuhio Highway near Kapaa Beach in East Side Kauai. Plus, they’re open seven days a week, so you can always swing by to satisfy your cravings.
As soon as you arrive at their food truck, the first thing you’ll likely notice is the scent of amazing dishes floating through the air. Then, you’ll get a warm welcome from the food truck crew and an invitation to check out the menu. Give yourself some time to browse all their offerings because there are a ton on the main menu. On top of that, they regularly put out specials and other interesting offerings on the sandwich boards nearby.
No matter what you order, you can count on them creating everything from scratch, including their tasty handmade tortillas. They go above and beyond in making sure that everything is perfectly cooked and assembled for your pure enjoyment. At first bite, you’ll likely find that their food needs nothing else to satisfy your cravings. Even so, it’s well worth drizzling their house-made mild, medium, and hot sauces over the top.
Although their meaty dishes get the most attention, they also have truly decadent vegan and vegetarian fare as well. If that’s more your style, just opt for the veggie filling on whatever menu items you favor. The rice and beans are always vegetarian and vegan friendly as well.
You’ll want to try their:
Shrimp Tacos
If you’re looking for the absolute best tacos around, you cannot go wrong with the Shrimp Tacos. They create this dish by sauteing the shrimp with plenty of garlic until perfectly tender. After that, they throw it on top of their handmade gluten-free corn tortillas and add lettuce and pico de gallo. If you get the plate, it comes with rice and beans, too.
Chile Relleno Combo
For a taste of all the fan favorites in a single dish, treat yourself to the Chile Relleno Combo. This huge entree starts with the star of the show: the chile relleno. Alongside that, they add either a mini cheese quesadilla or a shredded chicken taco. Then, they bring all the flavors together by adding a generous scoop of rice and refried beans.
Feliz Bowl
When you just want to scoop up bite after bite of deliciousness, the Feliz Bowl is the way to go. When you order this entrée, they will build it by adding white rice to the bottom of the bowl. Over that, they’ll pile on the black beans, sweet corn, and any meat you’d like. Then, they finish it off right with pico de gallo, guacamole, and lettuce.
Although you’re welcome to sit at one of the picnic tables next to the truck, it’s often better to take your meal to Kapaa Beach instead. While dining at the beach, you get to take in the phenomenal views of the oceanside and even watch the action out on the water. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see talented surfers hitting the waves or paddleboarders blissfully floating across the water.

-Need to skip the wheat? Ask about their gluten-free menu items.
-Their green sauce has quite a kick, so only order it if you can handle the heat.
