- The HawaiianIslands.com Local Expert Team

At Hawaiian Cruisers, they go all out in providing the mopeds, scooters, and e-bikes you need on your Maui adventures. Then, their team brings their services full circle by offering motorbikes for sale as well. Reliable service naturally follows that formula, making them a great place to go for local moped enthusiasts and tourists alike. Their Kihei shop only stays open on the weekdays, however, so you’ll have to plan your trip accordingly to avoid missing out.

Whether you’re interested in buying or renting, you’re welcome to explore all their offerings up close before choosing your desired cruiser. As you waltz through the doors, expect to get a big aloha and an invitation to start browsing all the vehicles. Across their showroom, you’ll find a whole rainbow of bikes on display. For even more options, take a look all across the front of the storefront and in the Azeka Shopping Center parking lot.

As a family-owned and operated shop, their team always rolls out the red carpet for every visitor. They’re happy to answer all your questions about each bike, ensuring you can find the best one for your needs. If you’re not sure which ones to pick, ask to take a couple out on a spin. Upon receiving that request, the crew will get you and the bike ready to go.

Although they don’t let you go on the open roads, you can cruise around the free practice lot at your leisure. If you’re a new rider, you’ll even get a full orientation plus training sessions in the lot. Then, you can cruise around the practice area for as long as you need to get completely comfortable on the bike. After that, you just have to hit the open road to enjoy all your island explorations to the fullest.

Top cruise rentals include:

50cc Moped
With its lightweight profile, a 50cc Moped lets you jet around town with ease – and parking is a cinch, too. You’ll need to get one moped for every person in your group since they’re only built for solo riders. But that just gives you a chance to color coordinate your crew by selecting mopeds in all your favorite hues.

300cc Moped
Built for two, a 300cc Moped is a way to go when you want to enjoy a tandem cruising experience. This is the only place on the island to get the coveted Kymco two-passenger scooters, too. So, it’s definitely worth jumping at the opportunity to ride these cute little cruisers whenever you get the chance.

7-Speed E-Bike
For a more unique way to cruise around town, get a 7-Speed E-Bike instead. Available in solo and tandem models, this bike gives you a little extra oomph whenever you need to rest your legs. In between, you can pedal at your leisure, allowing you to get in a good workout while exploring all the island has to offer.

When renting mopeds and the like, you must be over 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. You’ll need to let them know how long you’d like to rent the bike as well. You can go with a single-day rental or select their weekly rental package. No matter which arrangement you choose, you’ll need to bring the bike back before the end of the specified day to avoid additional charges.

Insider Tips:
-If you want to ride with a passenger, you cannot get a 50cc moped. State law prohibits passengers from riding on smaller bikes, likely due to their inability to get out of their own way when overloaded.
-Free helmets, bike locks, and sightseeing maps come with all rentals.
-Call ahead for a rental reservation if possible. Otherwise, you could end up with a much smaller selection of bikes to choose from, especially during the peak tourist season.
-You must cancel your reservations at least 72 hours in advance to get a full refund.
-The 50cc bikes have a low top speed. So, remember to carefully pull off to the side if traffic backs up behind you.
