It’s an unexpected twist to a tropical destination. Mulligans on the Blue is the only Irish-owned and run restaurant and bar in Maui. Located in Wailea, just a hop skip and a jump away from the beautiful Fairmont Hotel, the Wailea Blue Golf Course, and the White Rock Beach, this taste of everything Ireland will have you green with envy. Why visit an Irish-inspired establishment in the heart and soul of Hawaii?  Laddies and lassies, you’ll be lucky with a stop to this establishment.

For starters, a great success story. Mulligan’s owner, chef, and Irish immigrant, Michael O’Dwyer, that’s right O’Dwyer realized his dream of owning his very own restaurant. In 1996 he transferred from The Four Seasons in Dallas to the Wailea Four Seasons, fell in love with Maui, and decided to put down roots. His next step was to open his very own Irish restaurant and bar, which he named Mulligans on the Blue because it is located right on the Wailea Blue Golf Course. The view is spectacular and is a hot spot for golfers. But it’s not just for golfers. Everyone is invited in to enjoy their lively atmosphere, exceptional menu, live entertainment, and of course a favorite beverage or two.

The second you see this charming restaurant nestled in the gorgeous Maui landscape, you’ll be hooked. Mulligans on the Blue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and we love options. Dining outside comes highly recommend. The weather is consistently perfect, and the sunset view remains breathtaking memory that you’ll cherish forever.

The unique thing about Mulligans on the Blue is the menu because it is unlike any other on the Island. Everything is Irish-inspired including the beer. Good-tasting samplers and their Irish Beer Flights that included four, six-ounce glasses of Guinness, Kilkenny, Harp, and Black and Tan is the perfect thirst quencher and prelude to dinner. They also have a wonderful selection of Irish, American beers, and locally brewed IPA’s to give a try. If beer isn’t your thing, you can peruse the house specialty cocktails, wine list, and non-alcoholic drinks on the menu. I had to laugh…the quote on the menu is by Oscar Wilde, “Work is the curse of the drinking classes.” Cheers or like they say in Ireland, Slainte!

Now on to the decadent food menu. Look forward to experiencing Irish classics while in Maui. Let’s start with traditional Irish Pub Fare:

  • Harp Battered Fish and Chips
  • Corned Beef and Cabbage
  • Mulligans Shepherds Pie
  • Bangers & Mash
  • Guinness Pot Pie

Take a look at the two mouth-watering entrees that were equally tantalizing.

  • Mulligan’s Gaelic Steak featuring a James Irish Whiskey Cream and Mushroom Sauce
  • Blackened Mahi Mahi served with local veggies over a bed of pasta and a Crema Rosa Sauce

Now for the desserts. Leave room, or better yet, eat it first as your appetizer!

  • Ice Cream Sundae
  • Chocolate Lava Cake
  • Lilikoi or Passion Fruit Sherbet
  • Finnegan Pie
  • Mulligan’s Homemade Apple Pie

This is a truly wonderful Irish experience during your wonderful Hawaiian vacation. Not only are the food and beverages wonderful and the atmosphere delightful, but the customer service is also second to none. Everyone always has a big smile on their face, so get over to Mulligan’s on the Blue and enjoy something different and unexpected. And as the Irish always say, “May the road rise up to meet you!”
