Well-known as the longest-running luau show across all of Hawaii, the Drums of the Pacific Luau is a must-see performance for all ages. Set on Kaanapali Beach at the Hyatt Regency Maui, this show takes you on a journey through the culture and customs of Polynesian culture. All along the way, you’ll get your fill of Hawaiian delicacies plus full access to the open bar.
In order to get a glimpse into this magical world, you’ll need to book your spot well ahead of time. During the booking process, you can choose either standard or VIP seating. Both experiences come with a Mai Tai greeting while you enjoy the imu ceremony. As you watch in awe, the performers will demonstrate how to prepare classic fare, like kalua pork, in the underground oven.
Then, before the main show starts, they will start the pre-show hula performances while the food comes out to your table. Your servers will ask for your plated dinner preferences, such as huli huli chicken, pancit noodle salad, pacific ahi poke, taro rolls, and fresh sliced tropical fruit. You can try a little bit of everything or just load up on your favorites. They even have keiki plates with chicken nuggets and mac and cheese for the little ones.
After that, you’ll go on an hour-long journey through the South Pacific set to the sounds of beating drums and Hawaiian chants. Throughout that journey, the performers will move through all the Polynesian dances, including Maori warrior dances. The big finale is their three-man fire-knife dance born from Samoan culture, leaving you wholly impressed.
Expect to enjoy:
Open Tiki Bar
A Mai Tai awaits at your arrival, and then it’s a free for all at the open bar. You can sip to your heart’s content on tropical cocktails galore plus draft beer, wine, and hard seltzer. Prefer to keep it alcohol-free? Just ask about their juice, soda, and fruit punch.
Plated Dinner
When it comes to the food, the plated dinners are the star of the show. They have everything from kalua pork to Polynesian fried rice. Just ask for your favorites when your server comes by, and they’ll load you up with delicious food throughout the entire performance.
Dessert Plate
Save room for dessert or risk missing out on their amazingly delicious Creamy Coconut Cake. This decadent dish comes with all the best island flavors, including caramelized pineapple. On top of that, they have specialty chocolates from Ku’ia Farms on tap to finish your experience off right.
The all-you-can-eat fare extends far beyond the plate dinners. You’re welcome to request new drinks from the open bar whenever you want. And you can have as many servings of their dessert as you’d like. You cannot take any of it to go, so be sure to get your fill while you’re there. They just appreciate if you call it at the end of your plate rather than after taking your first bite of a new one.
