If you’d like to challenge yourself to impressive feats while seeing gorgeous private landscapes in Kauai, then you need to take a tour with Da Life Outdoors. They offer unique waterfall hikes and rappelling tours that let you enjoy their two private waterfalls to the fullest. You’ll first need to hike through paradise while taking in all the breathtaking views of the Haupu Mountains and Huleia National Wildlife Refuge.
With your friendly guide leading the way, Da Life Outdoors’ journey gives you a chance to learn all about the local history, culture, and vegetation. You’ll even get to pluck tropical fruits off the tree and have a taste right then and there. Then, depending on which tour you selected, you’ll either get to rappel down the waterfall or simply swim in the open pools of water to your heart’s content. On the way back, a stop at the Menehune Fishpond overlook lets you gaze in wonder at an ancient archeological site as you hear all about its fascinating construction.
From the moment you start your adventures at Da Life Outdoors, your guide quickly becomes a fast friend as they provide endless support and encouragement. Their upbeat attitude and sheer confidence helps you feel like you can tackle anything that comes your way. Beyond that, they’ll always go above and beyond in helping you stay safe and secure as you challenge yourself to reach great heights.
Da Life Outdoors‘ top offerings include:
The waterfall rappelling experience starts with a practice run on a dry surface before a peaceful hike up to the waterfalls. Then, you’ll get to show what you’ve learned by rappelling down the 30-foot Bamboo Falls. Once you do that, you’ll be hyped for another go, but this time, it will be down the 60-foot Papakolea Falls. The entire trip takes about four hours – and they’ll provide all the snacks and refreshments you need.
Rappelling is not for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you need to get totally left out of the fun. You can join the tour as a spectator instead and cheer on your loved ones from the base of the waterfalls. Whenever it is safe to do so, you can also take a dip in the pool below to cool off while enjoying the beauty of Kauai. You’ll still get snacks and drinks, too, plus have a chance to serve as the group cameraperson and capture all the best shots.
Waterfall Hike & Swim
If you go on the waterfall hike & swim trip, your Da Life Outdoors’ guide will lead you along a ¼ mile path to Bamboo Falls. This scenic viewpoint is perfect for taking beautiful pictures and resting up for the fun ahead. Upon reaching Papakolea Falls, you can swim in the pool at the base of the falls and even climb behind the waterfall as it cascades down around you. On this trip, expect to spend about two hours walking the trails and playing in the water.
For the rappel adventure, participants must be between 10 and 65 years old and in fairly good shape. To properly fit the harness, the supported weight range is 70 to 250 pounds. It’s best to sit this one out if you’ve recently had surgery, have a heart condition, are pregnant, or have any painful health conditions.
The waterfall hike has fewer restrictions and is open to anyone eight years and up. You’ll have the best experience if you can easily traverse slippery and uneven paths on your way to the waterfalls and back. Bring your swimming attire, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and locally-sourced bug spray.
-If high winds, lightning, or other stormy conditions arise, Da Life Outdoors may cancel your trip for your safety. You’ll get to reschedule or request a refund if that happens.
-On the hike, you’re likely to traverse sections with ankle-deep standing water, so wear well-fitting, closed-toe shoes that you won’t mind getting muddy. They will provide suitable footwear to put on for the rappelling adventures.
-Need a little extra support on the hike? Ask to use one of their walking sticks before you head out.
-Plan to lock your valuables in their trailer instead of leaving them in your car.
