Planning a special dinner while you’re vacationing on the south shore? You’re in for an unforgettable evening at RumFire Poipu Beach thanks to world-class cuisine, top-notch service, and breathtaking views of the Kauai coastline.

When it comes to truly exquisite experiences on Kauai, we challenge you to find one more remarkable than an evening at RumFire. Located in the Sheraton Kauai at Poipu Beach, this upscale establishment delivers delight from the second you walk into this oceanfront hotspot.

There are greetings, and then there’s the one waiting for you at RumFire. In addition to a warm welcome from the host, prepare to be blown away by the restaurant’s dramatic contemporary decor showcasing near-360-degree views of the resort’s courtyard, Poipu Beach, and the expansive ocean. Live acoustic music heightens the ambiance.

While matching the scenery is a tall order, RumFire’s consummate cuisine accomplishes this impressive feat. The globally inspired menu from Executive Chef Gabe Balenzuela features a tantalizing selection of locally sourced options. (The complimentary house Rumfire popcorn mix is the perfect way to whet your appetite while you peruse the menu.)

You’ll also delight in RumFire’s phenomenal selection of rums from around the world, as well as mouthwatering cocktails like the Signature Mai Tai and Watermelon Martini.

Such exceptional food merits equally exceptional service, and RumFire delivers here, too. The servers are friendly, attentive, and responsive—believe us when we say that your water glass will never be empty at RumFire!

RumFire is also an excellent destination for diners with food sensitivities or allergies. Just let your server know about your dietary restrictions, and the chef will be happy to accommodate you with a customized meal. (The restaurant even offers a sheet highlighting all the allergens in each menu item for above-and-beyond peace of mind.)

While we loved everything we sampled at RumFire, a few favorites from our visit included the following:

Fried Brussels Sprouts
Crisped to perfection and paired with tasty Portuguese sausage, spiced macadamia nuts, and a bright miso vinaigrette.

Everything Maui Goat Cheese Fondue
What do you get when you combine the creamy goat cheese with “everything bagel” seasoning? This flavor extravaganza pairs perfectly with the soft, warm, cauliflower bread and accompanying papaya compote. And did we happen to mention it’s gluten-free?

Crab Crusted Fresh Catch
On our visit, it was perfectly cooked kampachi topped with succulent crab and a decadent lemon-chardonnay cream over sticky rice.

Misoyaki Butterfish
Delicious and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, this just might be the best butterfish you have ever eaten.

Flourless Dark Chocolate Torte
You had us at “macadamia nut soil.” Prepare to eat every last bite of this warm, light cake served à la mode with locally-made Lappert’s Lilikoi Sorbet.

Can’t decide? The duo and quad “entrée flights” mean you don’t have to. Enjoy 2- or 4-item combinations of favorite RumFire dishes with this creative option.

If you’re looking for a more casual meal with no sacrifice of quality (or views), RumFire also offers a full bar menu.

Insider Tips:
-Plan your visit in advance. RumFire has limited hours and was only open Thursday through Sunday during our time on Kauai.
-While all the tables at RumFire have excellent views, ask for an ocean view table for an especially awe-inspiring display—especially if you time your meal with sunset.
-RumFire only accepts reservations for parties of more than six. There may be a wait, but it’s worth it.
-The restaurant temperature was chilly on our visit, so you might want to bring a sweater.
