On the hunt for authentic flavors from a pizzeria that prioritizes made-from-scratch cooking? If you’re in the Kailua Kona area, you can’t go wrong with Bianelli’s Gourmet Pizza.

Established by George Goldstine and now owned and operated by Kevin and Nicole Delaney, the restaurant continues to highlight the same recipes that have made it a hit from the very beginning. Local ingredients have also been a priority all along.

Bianelli’s specializes in deep dish and New York-style hand-tossed pizzas. Both are delicious, with the crust functioning as far more than a platform for the toppings — it’s the main attraction.

Conveniently situated within the Keauhou Shopping Center, this restaurant should provide plenty of fuel for a shopping trip — or a treat to end a busy day. The pizza is available for pickup, but the pleasant ambiance makes dining in worthwhile when you have time to spare.

Be prepared to hang out a while if you order the deep dish, which, as expected, takes a long time to prepare. No matter how long you stay, however, friendly hometown service is to be expected.

Vegans adore this pizzeria, as it provides a wealth of enticing options for those who prefer to avoid animal products. The dairy-free mozzarella won’t feel like a compromise, nor will toppings such as fresh mushrooms, eggplant, or roasted red peppers.

Gluten-free visitors will be pleased to find accommodating crusts, which are used for exclusive ten-inch pizzas. If anybody in your group has dietary restrictions, Bianelli’s is definitely the place to go.

A few of our favorite menu items include the following:

The Bufala
As the house specialty, this pizza is not to be missed. With this wonderfully fresh pie, the crust is baked with garlic sauce and layered with Parmesan. It also includes mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, and basil.

Barbecue Chicken Pie
If you adore all things BBQ, this is the pizza for you. In addition to its signature BBQ sauce, it’s layered with mozzarella and topped with green peppers, onions, chicken, and fresh Parmesan. Add a little more BBQ sauce, and you have the makings of a wonderful pizza.

Amazone
There’s a lot to love about the delectable pizza from Bianelli’s, but there’s something to be said for the restaurant’s calzones. If you visit with a date, consider opting for the two-person version. Like all Bianelli’s calzones, it comes with cheese, pizza sauce, and your choice of three ingredients from the pizza toppings list. Favorites include crumbled sausage, salami, sun-dried tomato, and artichoke hearts.

Pick Your Pasta
Fill up on pasta with a customizable dinner that works wonders when you have a strong appetite. Available as a half order or a full order, this approach allows you to select shells, spaghetti, or Fettuccine. This, in turn, can be paired with sauces such as marinara, white wine mushroom, or a combination of the two known as the Bianelli’s Famous Pink Sauce. For an additional fee, you can add meatballs, crumbled sausage, Italian link sausage, or even shrimp.

Vegetarian Sandwich
Another unexpected, but compelling option, this veggie sandwich can be served hot or cold. It’s loaded with green peppers, black olives, mushrooms, onions, tomato, and cheese. Mayo, mustard, and garlic vinaigrette provide additional flavor.

Many dinner options are available, but deep-dish pizza is definitely the recommended order at Bianelli’s. One bite, and you will be blown away by the unique details that set the crusts and sauce apart. Treat yourself to a hearty meal at one of the Big Island’s most impressive pizzerias.
