- The HawaiianIslands.com Local Expert Team

Enjoy the most authentic and intimate catamaran sailing experience in all of Hawaii at Sail Maui. You can take in the sunset sailing experience or opt for destination snorkeling cruises or even book exclusive private charters. Made possible thanks to the best sailing team in all of Hawaii, Sail Maui loves to sail and loves to show all their guests what the islands are all about.

You can create your perfect tour with the Maui Trip Planner by Sail Maui. This allows you to specify where you are staying, and coordinate your ideal tour for that location, less driving equals more fun! Then, you choose what time of day you would like your adventure to be, either morning, half-day, full-day, or sunset adventures. Next, you can specify if you want something leisurely or more exhilarating, depending on your preferences, Sail Maui will recommend either their Ailhilani, which is more relaxed or their Paragon boats, which can sail over 30 knots.

You can also choose your tour based on what marine wildlife you want to see on your adventure. Of course, Sail Maui can’t guarantee that you will see any particular wildlife but can put you in a position to increase the chances of seeing them in their natural habitat. Popular wildlife choices that most people want to see include whales, dolphins, turtles, and more. Whale watching trips are seasonal and run from December 15 through March 31st. Dolphins are most plentiful on the Lanai trip but can pop in on other tours.

Other tour options can include the preference to snorkel and allow for a bit of flexibility. In other words, Sail Maui’s crew and captains have an immense amount of knowledge regarding the best snorkeling sites. Often, these sites change depending on water conditions on any given day. Therefore, with Sail Maui, though many of the charters are set or contain specific destinations, the others are more flexible and change based on water conditions for the optimal guest experience.

Sail Maui also specializes in offering Maui sunsets from the water on the Paragon, which is a smaller, more intimate boat. Other activities include visiting the Lanai beach and enjoying the crystal clear waters, picnic lunch, and white sandy beaches. There are even options for shorter tours that are ideal for families with children. This tour even has built-in activities to help kids burn off pent-up energy. Sail Maui even has options for guests whose mobility isn’t ideal. The Alihilani is the company’s most comfortable boat and easiest to board for guests with mobility restrictions.

Show up to any snorkel tour and Sail Maui will fit you and provide you gear for your adventure. There are even a few optical masks on board, so let the crew know if you need this accommodation. Of course, you are always welcome to bring your own gear along if you prefer. Sail Maui does not provide towels, though, so be sure to bring your own on your tour. Sail Maui also recommends all guests bring along a reusable water bottle, camera, sunglasses, and a hat. If you are planning on joining the sunset tour, they also recommend bringing along a light jacket, especially during the winter months.

Sail Maui will rarely if ever cancel trips. Most cancellations are the result of inclement weather. When a trip is canceled by Sail Maui, the company will work hard to either provide you a refund or to accommodate you on another trip.

Insider Tips:
-Wearing sunscreen is important but make sure it is environmentally friendly and non-toxic to the ocean environment. It’s also best to avoid spray-on sunscreen as this can go everywhere on the boat. Reef-safe sunscreen is advised. Sail Maui provides this sunscreen to their guests, so no need to provide this yourself.
-There are UPF 50+ performance tees, crew shirts, tank tops, hats, towels, and sweatshirts for sale with Sail Maui logos on board all boats.
