With over 40 years of diving experience in Maui, Extended Horizons Scuba Dive Shop is the most experienced and friendliest operation in the Maui area. When you choose a tour with Extended Horizons, you can be assured a small diving group as they keep all their groups small, topping out at just four divers. This is by far the best ratio of guide-to-dives in Maui. Extended Horizons Scuba Dive Shop is consistently ranked as the top scuba dive charter with the best dive tours in all the Maui and Lahaina areas for good reason.
If remaining environmentally friendly and aware is an issue that you take to heart, you will be excited to learn that Extended Horizons is the first and remains the only boat in the Lahaina area to operate with 100% biodiesel, and has been for almost two decades, which is locally sourced from recycled cooking oils. They are also one of only five businesses in the entire state to receive Platinum recognition and earn the coveted Hawaii Clean Fleets award. Their efforts in utilizing biofuels have successfully reduced their carbon footprint by 83% when compared to petrodiesel.
Whether you are an experienced diver with your own equipment and have already earned your scuba certification or are just getting started and need to learn, Extended Horizons has something to offer. If you are experienced and have your scuba certification already, you are ready to hitch a ride on one of the extended dives that will allow you to experience unparalleled adventure in the world beneath the waves. If you are brand new, Extended Horizons will work to get you trained and certified so you are ready for more exciting adventures, all while keeping safety at the forefront.
Extended Horizons offers half-day classes for beginners to discover scuba diving. It is ideal for anyone aged 10 and older who wants to see what it’s like underwater. The session begins in the classroom, where you are taught various important elements of the skill, then you will follow up in the ocean with your instructor and learn how to breathe underwater. This first class does not include your scuba certification, but it does count towards your certification. There are several other courses that continue to add to your scuba certification that is offered by Extended Horizons.
If you already have your certification and want to experience an adventure like no other, then you are ready to join one of the Extended Horizons Scuba Dive Shop tours. There are a few main options to choose from, including Boat Diving off the Lanai coastline, which is famous for its swim-through archways, lava structures, and Cathedral dives, Shore Diving, off the West Maui shore, where you will see sharks, rays, and turtles as well as interesting marine life like frogfish. Another option for the experienced diver with open water certification is the Night Diving tour. This is a completely different world in the dark, and you can expect to see squid and octopus that typically only come out at night.
Finally, if you want to continue to build on your certifications and add Conservation Specialties, you can try Eco diving. These work-shop-style dives will help you learn how to make a difference by protecting the oceans. You will learn buoyancy tips and discover how you can contribute to protecting the marine environment during every dive. You will also get to help with reef cleanup and become educated on various marine species.
The options are many and feature great dives for everyone from the newest beginner to the diver who wants to add to their existing certifications and keep learning and growing in the field.
