Are you looking for a great place to sip on craft cocktails while enjoying good vibes all around? If so, you need to put the Wai Bar on your radar. A true Wailuku favorite, this bar rolls out the tastiest cocktails, all made with high-class spirits, fresh ingredients, and lots of flairs. Their talented mixologists start out each drink with a traditional recipe and then put their own personal spin on it for a unique creation all their own.
If cocktails are not quite your style, they have wine by the glass and draft beer as well. They carry only the most well-loved wine varieties – and serve them all with a generous four-ounce pour. Their draft brews come straight from the ever-popular Kona Brewing Company, allowing you to savor local flavors all throughout your visit. They do have Guinness Stout as well, however, just in case you want something a little more robust.
No matter what you order from the bar, you can count on getting plenty of aloha from their team. They adore all their patrons and go all out in helping everyone feel welcome. You’ll instantly want to kick back and stay awhile as a result. When there’s room, you’ll want to sidle up to the bar for an awesome chat with the bartenders and other patrons. Otherwise, you can grab a table along the wall and sip your drinks while soaking in all the action.
In order to keep their bar on the map as the place to go for fun times, they roll out special events all week long. Love Karaoke? Come by on Thursday nights to sing your heart out. Prefer trivia nights instead? Tuesdays are the day to jet on over to the bar. Every second Saturday of the month, you can swing by to hear pure hilarity from popular local comedians. On top of all that, they tend to have musicians play live all weekend long.
You cannot go wrong with the:
Wai Tai
For a popular classic with a twist, go with the Wai Tai, for sure. This drink starts with Kula Coconut Rum mixed with housemade macadamia nut orgeat. Then, they add lime juice and POG (passion-orange-guava) to kick the flavors into high gear. Dark rum goes into the drink next before a coconut lime foam lands on top.
Maui Mule
When you want to keep things simple without compromising on flavor, treat yourself to a Maui Mule. To create this cocktail, the mixologist combines one part Pineapple Pau Maui Vodka with an equal amount of locally sourced Torch Ginger Beer. After that, all that’s left to do is hit it with fresh-squeezed lime juice to brighten up the mix even more.
The Warrior
If you’re in the mood for a sweet yet spicy kick, you cannot go wrong with The Warrior. Centered around the powerful Cazadores Blanco, this drink features beet and lime juice in equal portions. Then, they kick it up a notch with a hit of Grand Marnier before adding smoked chili bitters. The whole lot jumps into a glass with a salted rim to keep your tastebuds feeling revitalized.
Since they don’t serve any food, they invite you to bring your own dishes along for the ride. So, stop by nearby restaurants for Thai food, empanadas, or seasonal fare before coming by. Then, feel free to get your grub on while sipping on all their tantalizingly delicious drinks. After that, you’ll be fueled up for whatever fun times come your way.
