- The HawaiianIslands.com Local Expert Team

A true local favorite since 1990, Lahaina Fish Co. is the place to go when you want to dine on fresh seafood while enjoying the view. Their open-air eatery puts you right on the oceanfront, allowing you to hear the waves and smell the salt in the air. From that vantage point, you’ll never feel closer to the vivid sunset hues or the magnificent whales swimming by. Their friendly aloha spirit brings it all together to help ensure that you always have a memorable meal at their Maui eatery.

Each day, they open up their doors right in time for the lunch rush and then keep the amazing food and drinks coming well into the evening hours. When creating every last menu item, they only use the freshest island ingredients and time-honored culinary techniques. Seafood is their specialty, of course, but their quality meat and veggie dishes promise to exceed your every expectation as well. They even have gluten-free and vegan items available when you need to skip the wheat or meat.

You’ll want to take your time in exploring the menu, so you can give each item the consideration it deserves. Don’t forget to let your mind wander over to all the drink possibilities, like craft brew, wine, and signature cocktails. If you prefer to keep it alcohol-free, don’t miss the chance to sip on their mocktails, including the ever-popular Strawberry Fields with bright hibiscus and strawberry flavors.

Stop by for a taste of the:

Ahi Katsu
If you’d like to whet your appetite with the finest seafood flavors, treat yourself to the Ahi Katsu. This signature appetizer starts with sashimi-grade Hawaiian tuna that’s wrapped in a thin sheet of nori. Then, they add a light panko crust and flash fry the fish to a perfect medium-rare. Once that’s done, it has a moment to rest up before getting sliced and plated over local kimchi and a wasabi ginger butter sauce.

Mahimahi Sandwich
Another house specialty, the Mahimahi Sandwich promises to tantalize your tastebuds through to the last bite. This dish starts with fresh island mahi-mahi grilled until light and flaky. After that, they put the fish on a butter-toasted brioche bun along with imported Swiss cheese and homemade coleslaw. Thousand Island dressing gets drizzled over the top of the slaw before the top bun goes on.

“Award-Winning” Prime Rib
Starting at 4 pm each day, they roll out their “Award-Winning” Prime Rib and keep serving it up until it’s gone. That doesn’t take long, so if you see it’s available, jump at the chance to give it a try. To create this fan favorite, they encrust a quality chunk of Certified Angus Beef in Hawaiian sea salt. Then, they surround it with au jus and roast it in their electric imu for hours upon hours. When it’s finally done, they serve it in 12-ounce house cuts with Maui onion mash and creamed horseradish.

Although they happily welcome walk-ins to throw their name in the hat, a 90-minute wait is common any day of the week. So, whether you want to stop by for lunch, dinner, or dessert and drinks, book your spot well ahead of time to avoid the wait. Reservations are particularly important if you want to dine on the top level of the restaurant. In that spot, you get the best views in the house, so it fills up unbelievably fast. If you do walk in, just give them your name and they’ll text when a table is ready. It’s easy to kill an hour and a half exploring all the shops along Front Street, so you really cannot lose.

Insider Tips:
