Some guests describe Haui’s Life’s A Beach as a dive bar. And perhaps they’re correct if by definition a beach bar must have a swanky interior, overpriced-water-downed drinks, and small but expensive food.
On the flip side, if you define a great beach bar as having rustic character, attracts guests like honey does bees, serves stiff drinks that are easy on your wallet, then Haui’s Life’s A Beach is calling your name.
Haui’s Life’s a Beach, also known as LAB (Life’s A Beach), sits across the street from Kalama Park in Kihei, Maui. When you see the massive concrete whale, you know you’re close!
The interior is large with ample seating, and the laid-back beach decor with outdated furniture adds to its old-school charm. Ten large-screen TVs will interest sports fans, and the pool table and arcade game Golden Tee Golf will entertain young and old alike.
Many locals and tourists visit Haui’s Life’s a Beach to sit outside at the covered tables, sip a tropical drink, and watch the sunset. Haui’s Life’s A Beach is family-friendly, and there’s even a menu for them, too.
Attention, wanna-be rock stars, and crooners! Haui’s Life’s a Beach has karaoke Sunday-Thursday from 7-11:30 PM. Live bands pump out the jams on other nights, so guests can dance the night away.
A key factor to being a great beach bar is, well, the bar. Haui’s Life’s A Beach is the only bar in Kihei serving draft beer in 16 and 24-ounce mugs. And from what we could tell from reviews on social media, their Mai Tais pack a punch! For the brave of heart, order a liter of Mai Tais! And the prices? Let’s say that’s one reason why Haui’s Life’s A Beach is always busy!
Their menu has many typical bar foods like burgers, but they’re known for serving Mexican food. There are too many choices to list, but here are some we think you may enjoy:
Taquitos/Flautas Plate
Choose from pork, beef, or chicken, and then select corn or flour tortilla. The plate comes with sour cream, guacamole, homemade salsa, rice, and beans.
Life’s A Beach Burrito
This vegetarian monster is filled with beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole and topped with your choice of either enchilada or ranchero sauce. Homemade salsa comes on the side, and for an additional cost, you may add pork, beef, or chicken.
Taco Salad
A crisp tortilla shell filled with romaine lettuce, beans, cheese, tomatoes, olives, jalapenos, guacamole, sour cream, and homemade salsa. You may add pork, beef, chicken, or Mahi Mahi for an added cost.
Like we said at the beginning: if you want a bar with a chic interior, pricey cocktails, and expensive finger food, then Haui’s Life’s A Beach isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a fun place offering great, inexpensive drinks and food, then head over to Haui’s Life’s A Beach.
Insider Tip:
