When you need flavorful pork grinds in your life, all it takes is a trip down to Porky’s Kauai. At this South Shore eatery, you can get your fill of the absolute best island flavors without putting a whole lot of thought into it. Since their menu only features four fan favorites, you just have to select the one that speaks to you most to start your culinary journey.
As a nod to their roots as a hotdog cart in New York City, their menu features two hotdog-centric dishes to remember. With the island as their newfound home, they do put a Hawaiian spin on the flavors, helping you enjoy all the best local delights in every bite. The rest of their menu is pure comfort food in the form of a tasty grilled cheese sandwich and a hearty rice bowl.
While there are only a few menu options available, you do have the opportunity to customize each offering to your liking. For an extra charge, you can add bacon, Portuguese sausage, or both to kick the flavors up a notch. Beyond that, ask for both the sweet, and sweet & spicy sauces to enjoy all the excellent flavors without having to conserve your dip.
Although there are no extra sides landing on the plate, their entrées are plenty filling all on their own. Even without the extra toppings, you can rest assured that your order will leave you feeling plenty satisfied with your selections. Every order does come with a can of soda, adding even more value to the meal.
You definitely need to try their:
Pineapple Sausage
Dubbed the Number One, their Pineapple Sausage boasts bold island flavors in every single bite. To create this dish, they start by grilling up a pork pineapple sausage and then putting it in a toasted cheese bun. On top of that, they add Hawaiian-style pulled pork, grilled onions, and fresh-cut pineapple chunks.
100% All Beef Frank
Well-known as the Number Two, the 100% All Beef Frank starts the same as the Number One. They begin by grilling their 100% all-beef frank, putting it in a toasted cheese bun, and throwing pulled pork over top. After that, grilled onions and fresh-cut pineapple complete their flavors.
Grilled Cheese
The Grilled Cheese is the Number Three and definitely takes comfort food to the next level. They build this iconic sandwich by putting pulled pork, Havarti, Muenster, grilled onions, and fresh onions between two pieces of bread. Then, they grill it up right and serve it hot.
Rice Bowl
While known as the Number Four, the Rice Bowl never comes in last. This dish starts with two scoops of white rice cooked to perfection. Then, they cover the rice in their pulled pork, fresh-cut pineapple, and grilled onions.
After your order comes out, you can grab a seat inside the dining room if there are any available. Since this eatery is rather popular, the seating area does fill up fast. If that’s the case, you can take your meal to Hoffgard Park across the street and sit at the picnic tables instead. Before you leave, take a moment to check out the Captain Cook statue to enjoy a little history lesson with your meal.
