Roy Yamaguchi is a rock star of the Hawaiian food scene. Originally from Japan, Roy received the “Best Pacific Northwest Chef” Award in 1993. He has gone on to earn many more honors and it’s no wonder his restaurants have seen so much success. The “Original Roy’s” started more than 30 years ago in Honolulu. Today, there are restaurants all over Hawaii and the Waikoloa location offers the same great food and welcoming environment.
Although this is not a beachfront restaurant like other Roy’s locations, this one has a nice view of a lake. It’s located in the Kings’ Shops at Waikoloa Beach Resort. This resort offers more than 30 different dining options, as well as shopping, golf, and a variety of activities on the land and in the sea.
If you would like to dine at Roy’s, reservations are needed. In fact, you will want to make reservations weeks in advance to make sure you get a table. The wait staff is kind and attentive and the atmosphere is pleasant, just not quite as exciting as some other Roy’s restaurants. The tables are well spaced so that it doesn’t get too loud, so it’s great for a family dinner, business meeting, or romantic date.
Roy Yamaguchi is a big supporter of local farms and fishermen. Roy’s restaurants use as many local agricultural resources as possible for their menu items. The fresh taste of these local products shines through in their dishes. You can get a true taste of Hawaii at this restaurant.
On the menu, find American, Seafood, Polynesian, and Hawaiian cuisine. There are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free items for all to enjoy. Roy’s is open for dine-in and carry-out for dinner daily. There is a separate dine-in and carry-out menu.
