Well-known as where the champions come to play, Kapalua Golf serves as a great place to spend an afternoon in paradise. In this little corner of heaven, you’ll find two exceptionally designed golf courses: the Bay Course and the Plantation Course. Beyond that, their driving range and academy promise to help you become a better golfer one visit at a time. If you need a little break from all the golfing, you can hit the tennis courts at your leisure for even more fun in the sun.
Their courses are the star of the show, of course, bringing in PGA Tour champs, celebrities, and everyone in between. Both courses feature 18 holes that demand technical expertise without taking the fun out of the game. Their layouts you on a whirlwind tour of all the best fairway and green designs. The many slopes demand you think it through to come out with the best score. Plus, the winds coming off the ocean adds to the challenge while further elevating the ambiance.
The Plantation Course is so good, in fact, that the PGA Tour uses it as their venue for the Tournament of Champions. You can even view the past champions who’ve played on the course while visiting the locker room. Their photos all around aim to inspire, motivating you to do your best with every swing. For even more motivation, sign up for academy sessions or private instruction – or just see how you do on the driving range.
As you spend time on the golf courses, you’re likely to work up a big appetite. Thankfully, you can find countless upscale restaurants nearby where you can rest up for another round. Plus, when you want to call it a day, you won’t have to go far if you book a room at a Kapalua resort, like the Ritz-Carlton right next door.
Swing by to check out the:
Plantation Course
The Plantation Course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw to take full advantage of the sweeping island views. The par 73 layout doesn’t compromise on the challenges, although it remains enjoyable for novice golfers. Ultra-long drives are a breeze, especially along the huge slope on the 18th fairway.
Bay Course
With a trip through the Bay Course, you get to go on a journey through all the best sights in Maui, which reaches its pinnacle on the 17th hole. While navigating its 72-par layout, you’ll want to put your full focus into every shop before gazing in awe at the views all around. The 18th hole brings you back to earth right in time to do it all again.
Driving Range
When you need to improve your drives, putts, and overall approach, you can always jet on over to the driving range and practice facility. You just need to get a basket of balls from the Bay Course Clubhouse to get started. Then, you can swing the day away while perfecting your form to get ready for your next round of golf.
Don’t forget to bring your camera along for the ride. Every last hole is picture perfect, so you’re going to want to snap away through every round. For the best photos, put your camera vertical and take a panoramic shot. Then, slowly pan from the crisp green grass to the ocean vistas all around before finishing the shop up along the bright blue sky. You won’t regret taking a little extra time to capture it all in one amazing photo.
