The Bottom Line:

Baked on Maui is inside what used to be Libby’s Pineapple Cannery. The quaint shop is family-owned and serves fresh, made-from-scratch baked goods, breakfast and lunch selections. They also offer craft coffees, a daily smoothie made, and kombucha. Meals are hearty, and prices are reasonable for the food quality.

When you’re too baked to bake or too baked from the sun, then take a break and head over to Baked on Maui in Pauwela!

You’ll find this family-owned bakery tucked in what once was the Libby’s Pineapple Cannery. The exterior is rustic and, one could argue, not eye-appealing, but step inside, and you’ll have a whole new perspective and experience.

The grassroots bakery was the vision of a local family who wanted to serve fresh, made-from-scratch food to Pauwela. Like many small bakeries, they started with an oven, their passion for cuisine, and their love for their community. Today, their reputation for serving fresh, delicious food and flavorful coffee is spreading across Maui like a tropical rainbow.

Guests will enjoy the quaint interior. The decor is modern and clean, with accent lighting adding warmth to the ambiance. Several glass display cases showcase the daily items, and the large menus hang behind the counter for easy reading. There’s a dedicated area for sprucing up your coffee and another displaying bags of coffee for sale.

Baked on Maui offers online ordering for those that want to avoid lines or have a large order to place.

Aside from crafting mouth-watering pastries, Baked on Maui is noted for cooking hearty breakfasts and sandwiches. The menu includes choices for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests.

Bakers for Baked on Maui arrive in the wee hours of the morning to knead the dough and prepare for the day’s first customers. Guests will want to sample their artisan breads, homemade goodies, and decadent cinnamon rolls.

Be sure to bring your appetite when you visit Baked on Maui because their breakfast and lunch selections are hearty. Here are but a few of their breakfast standouts:

The Ranchero
The chef fills corn tortillas with two eggs over-easy, black beans, salsa, cheddar cheese, house chipotle sauce, and bakes it in the oven.

Daddy-O’s Biscuits & Gravy
This stick-to-your-ribs meal consists of cheddar cheese scones topped with two eggs over-easy, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, and smothered with pepper gravy. House fries are included in case this wasn’t enough food!

Smoked Salmon Bagel
You pick one of their fresh bagels, and they add cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, Spanish onion, and capers. Delicious!

Paniolo
The Paniolo consists of two eggs any style, house fries, bacon, cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, and avocado. This is one of several dishes baked in a cast-iron skillet.

Fully Loaded Waffle
This decadent waffle has chocolate chips, mixed berry compote, caramel drizzle and is crowned with whipped cream. This waffle is one of several breakfast sweets you’ll find on their menu.

We need to mention that Baked on Maui has an extensive lunch menu, too. Selections range from craft salads, burgers, and sandwiches. The following are a sampling:

Caprese
Fresh mozzarella, tomato, pesto, and balsamic glaze are stacked onto focaccia.

Royale with Cheese
This burger has bacon, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and BBQ aioli.

Baked on Maui may be small in size, but they’re huge on homemade, fresh food and craft drinks. We believe you’ll love your experience at Baked on Maui so much that you’ll be a return customer.
