Every Kauai guidebook talks about the beauty of the Wailua River. Once accessible only to Hawaiian royalty, the Wailua is Kauai’s largest navigable river and one of the island’s most popular spots for paddling. Gorgeous, calm waters bordered by native plants and trees lead the way up into the heart of the island. Go far enough upriver, and you’ll be able to land your kayak within easy hiking distance of Secret Falls. And Wailua Kayak Adventures makes it easy to get the gear and information you need for an epic day of exploring.
Wailua Kayak Adventures offers both guided tours and equipment rentals, so you can explore to your heart’s content. Friendly smiles, automatic help loading and unloading gear, and clear, helpful directions come standard; the staff here go out of their way to make the rental process as straightforward as possible.
Some of Wailua Kayak’s services include:
Gear Rental for Water-Based Adventures
Whether you’re renting by the day or for an entire week, you’ll find the beach/paddling gear you need here, from surfboards to SUPs and kayaks. All equipment is kept clean and in excellent condition, and staff will help get the gear loaded onto your vehicle during the visit, as well–no awkward scrambling to figure out how to transport your boards or kayaks on top of your rental car.
You can also rent dry bags and personal flotation devices for each member of your group, and extra seats are available for tandem kayaks–perfect for small children riding along.
Guided Tours to Secret Waterfall
Some adventures are more straightforward and lower stress when you’re in the company of an experienced guide. This is definitely one of them. Enjoy a relaxed paddle upriver with a local guide who knows and loves the Wailua Valley. They’ll share background on the river’s history and lore, show you where to land your kayak for the short hike to the waterfall, and keep you on track to see the stunning Secret Falls.
Both morning and afternoon tours are available, but they recommend the morning tour; it leaves at 7 am and beats the rush of people heading up the river to see the falls themselves. The company intentionally keeps these tours small and intimate, so you won’t feel rushed or lost in a crowd.
Wailua Kayak Adventures is located in Kapaa, about two miles from the Wailua River State Park on Kauai’s eastern coast. They offer a quick, easy booking process, and the staff goes out of their way to answer questions and make your entire experience a great one. Visitors to the island keep coming back to Wailua thanks to the great guides and reliably excellent service they provide.
