You know you’re in for a real authentic sushi treat when you walk into Seiji’s Sushi on the west end of Ali’i. Get your appetite ready for a glorious experience. This hidden gem off the beaten path is an adorable little Japanese sushi house serving up the freshest and most delicious sushi. There is a wonderful story about the owner, Seiji. He started his career as a young sushi chef in Japan learning and absorbing everything he could about the art of sushi making. He then moved to the United States where he mastered his craft to the point where he taught hundreds of students to prepare authentic and traditional Japanese sushi. Today, he calls Hawaii his home, opened his business, married his wife and business partner, and continues to delight customers in his thriving restaurant.

One thing remains clear. Suiji insists on preparing sushi using only the freshest fish and locally sourced fruits, vegetables, and ingredients. As a matter of fact, all the fish he uses in his dishes are caught right in the harbor nearby the restaurant. Seiji respectfully prepares and uses what they catch the same day! All the vegetables are from a local farmer’s market, too. It’s like a fresh explosion in your mouth! If you are a vegetarian, there is something for you, too. The agedoshi tofu is freshly fried and in a tasty broth. The freshly fried tofu is scrumptious and both hearty and satisfying.

The menu is full of both raw and cooked selections. If raw fish isn’t your thing, give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. The sushi they prepare here is, melt in your mouth wonderful.  It’s fun to read and explore all the items because they are written in both English and Japanese. This is where locals stop when they are hungry for a scrumptious meal. Seiji’s is the place for awesome service in a cozy, intimate environment. There aren’t many tables inside, so reservations are highly recommended as they have to limit the number of guests they serve each day.
