As the saying goes, good things come in small packages. King’s View Cafe fits this description. You’ll find this restaurant in Kapaau at the end of a small strip mall beside an art gallery. From the street, you’d wonder if there’s any room inside for seating, let alone to order. Rest assured, there is!
King’s View Cafe is across the street from the King Kamehameha statue and war memorial park (thus the restaurant’s name). Hawaiian art and photographs adorn the bamboo paneled walls inside the narrow cafe. In many ways, the decor is comparable to a tiki hut. And despite the restaurant’s small size, tables are aplenty and aren’t crammed together.
They offer a variety of menu options but are known for serving some of the best pizza in Hawaii. Desserts, smoothies, lattes, and adult beverages are also available at King’s View Cafe. You order at the walk-up counter, and a server brings the food to your table.
While every region of the United States claims to have “the best pizza,” we know the crust is what distinguishes styles. King’s View Cafe hand tosses their crust, and then oven bakes them. The result is a crisp crust that’s not too thick and isn’t gooey in the center. They also offer a gluten-free crust that visitors hail as being very tasty.
Aside from pizza standards like supreme, cheese, and pepperoni, here are some other crowd-pleasers:
Peso sauce, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives, feta cheese.
Mayas Bacon Mac N Cheese
Pesto sauce, macaroni and cheese, bacon, ranch sauce.
Kalua Pork Pizza
BBQ sauce, Kalua pork, red onions, pineapple.
House-made rosemary white sauce, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese.
Each sandwich comes with your choice of potato salad or chips. You may customize your selection for an additional cost, too. Here are some standouts:
Hula Chicken Melt
BBQ chicken, melted mozzarella cheese, pineapple, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.
Melted Swiss cheese, fresh pastrami, mayo, mustard, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.
All burgers come with your choice of potato salad or chips and are served on a fresh-baked Hawaiian gourmet bun. For an additional cost, you can make substitutions. Here are some amazing burgers:
Bacon Mac N Cheese
Hawaiian Teriyaki Cheese Burger
They only offer two choices for grilled plates, but diners praised both for being delicious. Both come with two scoops of rice and your choice of potato salad, green or Caesar salad.
Grilled Mahi Mahi
Grilled Teriyaki Chicken
Like we said at the start, good things come in small packages. We think you’ll love your dining experience at King’s View Cafe.
All meals are made-to-order, and pizzas may take 45 minutes to prepare. Plan on your order taking a while to come to your table. Many guests place their orders and then walk across the street to check out the King Kamehameha statue.
