Are you ready for a good paddling? No, not THAT kind of paddling, but the fun type on a paddleboard or paddling a kayak. If your answer is yes, then Kona Boys Kayaks can help and know that “You deserve a good paddling.”

Good friends Brock and Frank moved to Hawaii in search of surf and sun and, along the way, developed what is now Kona Boys Kayaks. This 20-year-old company is on the Big Island’s Kona Coast near Kealakekua Bay. They have locations in Kailua-Kona and Kealakekua. They’re your go-to source for all things relating to surf, kayak, SUP (stand-up paddleboards), and SCUBA.

But Kona Boys Kayaks isn’t just your average rent-and-go shop. Their passion is protecting the ocean through organizations like Kona Causes and Coral Reef Alliance. Kona Boys Kayaks also promotes Hawaiian culture by integrating history and petroglyphs (ancient carvings) on many adventure tours. You’ll also learn about Captain Cook’s arrival in 1779, the richness of Kealakekua Bay, and other iconic locations in the area.

Kona Boys Kayaks is a small, laid-back shop offering a wide gear selection, backed by their years of experience. You won’t find attitudes inside; just quality equipment with genuine service. Let’s look at Kona Boys Kayaks activities and rental options.

Surf Rentals
You can rent boards by the day or weekly. They have a rich stock to choose from, including epoxy or traditional boards like fish, shortboards, miniguns, and nose riders. They also have leashes, boardshorts, board backs, kick pads, and wax. They can provide tips and where the best surf locations are, too.

Surf Lessons
Hawaii is one of the world’s premier locations for surfing. So while you’re on vacation, why not try learning how to surf? Kona Boys Kayaks offers group and private lessons. Your lesson begins on the beach, where you’ll get safety lessons and learn how to use the gear and surfing etiquette. Once in the water, you start with basics like paddling, turning, and sitting.

Paddleboards
Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned expert, you’ll find a board to rent ideal for your experience level. They also offer tours and lessons. Both are 1.5 hours long and can be done as a group or privately.

Kayak/Snorkel Tours
This 5-hour tour has you paddling across the Kealakekua Bay while your guide shares tales of Hawaii’s grand past. Once along the calm shoreline, you snorkel at one of the best reefs in the world. There are over 200 tropical fish species, turtles, eels, reef sharks, and rays. You’re then treated to a healthy lunch and refreshments before paddling back across the bay. Check-in is 7:00 AM and concludes around 11:30 AM.

Canoe
Nothing says “Hawaii” like a ride in an outrigger canoe! This one-hour adventure can be done as a group or chartered for a maximum of six people.

Beach Rentals
If getting in the water doesn’t appeal to you, Kona Boys Kayaks has everything you’ll need to enjoy the beach. From chairs to umbrellas to coolers to dry bags, Kona Boys Kayaks has what you’ll need to soak up the sun. They even rent bikes for a leisurely spin along the ocean.

Reviews on social media give Kona Boys Kayaks high marks for dependable, fun, and safe tours. Whether you want to surf, swim along a reef, or lounge on the beach all day, Kona Boys Kayaks has everything you’ll need.

Insider Tip:
On the Kayak/Snorkel Tour, you’ll share the reef with other tour groups. Fortunately, the Kona Boys Kayaks tour generally arrives first. Also, with this package, you get to keep the snorkel gear for another day, allowing for another underwater adventure.
